How proportional splitting works
Add both monthly incomes and divide each income by the household total. That percentage becomes the suggested contribution to shared expenses. If one person earns 60% of the total household income, their suggested share is 60%.
- Person A: $4,000 of $6,000 total → 66.7%
- Person B: $2,000 of $6,000 total → 33.3%
- A $1,500 expense becomes $1,000 and $500
