No bank connection
There is nothing to link: no bank login, no aggregator, no open banking. Couplesplit only knows the expenses you add, import or capture from notifications on your own phone.
Ours and Mine
Everything in Ours is shared with your partner. Everything in Mine belongs to your account only: our servers are built to return it only to a session signed in as you, and it is left out of the shared balance, activity and reports. Automatic expenses always land in Mine first.
Automatic capture, read on your phone
Your phone reads the notification itself whenever it can, and only the resulting expense leaves it. If it cannot, and only if you allow reading with AI, a masked copy is sent: card and account numbers, codes, phone numbers, email addresses, links and names are replaced before it leaves your phone. We ask the AI provider not to store the request, and our server does not keep the text.
How your data is protected
- Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
- The database is only reachable through our servers.
- Each installation gets its own signed, expiring credential, revoked when you delete your account or leave a household.
- Sign-in data stays in the iPhone Keychain or Android’s encrypted storage.
- You can lock the app with Face ID, Touch ID or your fingerprint.
- Our providers encrypt stored data.
What we don’t do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not show ads.
- We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
- Couplesplit never moves money.
Your controls
- Turn reading with AI on or off in Settings, Automatic expenses, How your data is used.
- Turn off “Help improve detection” in the same place.
- Delete your account from the app at any time.
Questions
Can my partner see my personal expenses?
No. Expenses in Mine belong to your account only and stay out of the shared balance, activity and reports. If you move an expense to Ours, your partner will see it.
Does Couplesplit store my bank password?
No. Couplesplit never asks for it and never connects to your bank.
