Short answerCouplesplit logs a purchase from the notification your bank already sends you, so you do not need to connect your bank or type anything. On iPhone this uses a Shortcuts automation and needs iOS 27; captured purchases stay private in Mine until you share them.
Bank connections need your credentials or an aggregator, are not available for many banks outside the US and Europe, and often break. Your bank already sends a notification for every card purchase. Reading it gets the amount and the merchant in seconds, with nothing to link.
On Android, which is coming soon, Couplesplit will read notifications from a fixed list of bank and wallet apps, including Google Wallet, after you allow notification access once.
Your phone reads the notification itself whenever it can, and only the resulting expense is saved. If it cannot, and only if you allow reading with AI, a masked copy is sent: card and account numbers, codes, links and names are replaced first.

It works with any bank app that sends a purchase notification with the amount. If yours does not, you can still use Apple Pay capture or add expenses by hand.
